School Visits

Jacky Lamenzo is a children’s book author from Needham, MA. She uses her Early Childhood Education background to teach students to step outside their comfort zone when it comes to trying new things. Jacky offers presentations for elementary schools to share with students about the writing process as well as the fact that hard work and persistence allow us to achieve our goals.

About the Book

Addy Wants to Fit In is about an ant who is a picky eater who often feels left-out at dinner time. She desperately wants to try the foods that her friends and family eat, but has a hard time. This story opens up the dialogue around trying new foods (and trying new things in general) and reminds kids it’s okay to be nervous and brave at the same time.

Presentation

After a read-aloud of Addy Wants to Fit In, Jacky will walk students through the writing and illustrating process with a visual presentation. She drives home the important reminder that mistakes and patience are crucial to achieving difficult goals -- and shares with the students that the whole process took her two years. Students are typically shocked! Guided toward students Pre-K through Fifth Grade.

In order to keep it interactive and allow for questions, presentations are limited to roughly 150 students per session.
